Welcome to the Summer School 'Masses de Données' BDA

The thematic school 'Masses de Données' (MDD) originates from the research community in databases. Its aim is to complement the annual national conference "Data Management - Principles, Technologies, and Applications (BDA)", which has been organized for 38 years and is nationally and internationally recognized for its high scientific quality. The BDA steering committee aimed to strengthen the educational component (tutorials) within an independent event, leading to the creation of the MDD summer-school. Its first session was held at Les Houches in 2010, Aussois in 2012, Oléron in 2014, Urrugne in 2016, Aussois in 2018, postponed in 2020, and Bastia in 2022.

Our thematic school aims to shed light on various societal issues by inviting experts from various computer science and legal disciplines. The general theme, "Responsible data management," will be divided into the following 5 axes:

Audience:

The target audience for this school primarily consists of young researchers in the field of databases as well as related or multidisciplinary fields (such as managing big data for scientific applications, for example). By young researchers, we mean doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers. The school is also open to more experienced academic researchers and researchers with the aim of thematic openness, creating a network for exchange, or career transition. The school obviously caters to research engineers from the private sector (R&D, startups, etc.).
